Dear Madame Joy,
There is this individual at my work place who seems to think it’s his duty to interject himself into any conversation he may hear going on in the office.
It seems that somehow he has either experienced, is experiencing or will experience whatever the conversation is about. He knows everything and feels he needs to share his knowledge. I have made it a point to discreetly maneuver myself so that I just happen to be leaving when he heads towards the conversation.
As I do need my job I would like to know, how do I remain politically correct and tell him to mind his own business.
Tired of the damn Macco.
Dear Tired of the damn macco,
Thank you!
Have you seen the movie “Field of Dreams”? Well there is a line in this movie that says “If you build it, they will come”.
Apart from being down right creepy and knowing that any sane person hearing that voice coming from nowhere, would have
sold that damn place and run like hell, leaving wife and cow behind (and you have to admit , they should have left).
I would like to tell you what that line means. I means simply this: the people are paying you to do your damn work. Why the hell are you and your co-workers wasting their damn money prattling when you should be working?
It serves you right, when you build it “talk”, they will come “the individual”. So the simple solution is to go in to work, sit at your damn desk, face your computer (or whatever) and do your damn work.
Problem solved!
Simply follow my advice and you too will attain happiness and clarity.
p.s: It is also very selfish of you to throw your fellow coworkers under the bus by leaving them to deal with this individual. He obviously needs love, so love him, please, just love him. Just Saying!
