Dear Madame Joy,

I have this friend and every time she buys something or gets something, especially if it’s expensive. She feels this need to call me and tell me all about it. She is single has no children and she is always trying to get me to buy one of whatever her latest find is.  I have one child and it’s already hard enough for my husband and I to keep our heads above water. She keeps telling me that I work hard and I should treat myself .How do I get this free spirit to understand that she is wasting her money and she needs to be more responsible?

Dear Freedom 55 maybe
Thank You!

My dear you let that woman shop and you make sure your child have food eh! Leave she let she buy she tings and luv she tings, next ting you know you go an follow this woman then you and your  yuh husband having problems because you spending money on things that allyuh cyah afford. Ah hope she know that tings doh luv yuh back.

When people have this overwhelming urge to show what they have, they usually have some underlying issue. Or they just like to show off because it make  them feel better about themselves to know that they have these  things and their friend don’t (yup! underlying issues) . We in the industry call it the boasteritis syndrome. They  need validation and they get it from these things and from people telling them how nice they are. The missing something inside and they just trying to say “I need Love”.

See ah have this friend right (an is not Tulip people, ah have other friends) and every time she get something or she buy something she have to brag about it and she does take pictures of whatever it is and post it on Facebook so she could show off to all she friend an dem  and have dem tell she how these things  nice and all dat kinda chupidness. So when she come and start to tell you about something else, just sing the following – stop… in the name of love before I break your heart. Think it ooover, gyul why you buying all of these things. yuh ahve to do the Supreme dance too eh.

Try a little sister intervention, she might just need somebody to point her in the right direction. You never know! If all else fails, we at Joyspirations do offer the The Heated Man Substitute Blanket . We are proud to offer the H.M.S.B with an avatar of your choice, for a small additional fee.

Follow these simple steps and you too will attain happiness and clarity.

p.s.You know she right about one thing eh. You HAVE TO TREAT YOURSELF TO SOMETHING AT LEASE ONCE A YEAR. It doh have to be  a ridiculously expensive item but treat yuhself. So every birthday buy yuhself something you WANT not something you NEED!
